My Mom doesn't add the nutmeg and just adds extra cinnamon. It is better that way! The apples can be substituted for peaches.

PS- I tried making this in the crock pot.... not good! Don't do it. It was mush! Oh and green apples for this recipe wasn't so great either.

Any suggestions on what type of apple tastes best?
You should definitely use a crispy apple because you don't want the dessert to be mushy. A green apple or I think maybe a honey crisp?... sorry I don't know apples to well! I am sure any apple will be fine. If it is a sweeter apple I would use less sugar. Good luck!
LOVE apple crisp! All your recipes look great, I need to take some down to make soon. Can I make requests? I would love some great new soup or stew recipes since it is finally cooling off here!
Absolutely! I love soup and I have been craving some with the rainy weather we are getting here. I'm going to try a couple new ones soon, so I will let you know if they are keepers! You can click the soup label on the side column to check out the ones I have on the blog. Mmmmm... stew sounds good too! :)
PS- Comforting Chicken Noodle Soup is one of my favorites! It's on the blog.
